I've never been to the Lovell, Maine area before, and I hadn't actually heard about it until Bernadette hired me to film her wedding there. WHY this is the case is a complete mystery to me. Driving up north for a wedding near the White Mountains always sends chills down my spine and reminds me of home as the range comes into view....it reminds me I AM home. But on this trip, I discovered it gets even better. In this particular location, the mountain range comes coupled with an enormous, sparkling blue lake surrounded by white, sandy beaches, and is dotted with pine-studded islands. Surrounding the beach is the beautiful pine forest of Maine, and sprawling farm land beyond that with mountain views for days. To say this place is beautiful is a vast understatement. I couldn't help myself at feeling giddy as we pulled into the Pleasant Point Inn and beheld such spectacular views. And the icing on the cake, as it were, were the rustic yet well-kept cabins sprinkled around the property, tucked into the forest but perfectly close to the beach all at once. The scene brought me memories of childhood, and daydreams of my own child's future summers packed with wholesome family adventure and beauty. It was all spot on. What a place, and what a day for a wedding!
We started in the absolutely stunning and spacious bridal suite for Bernadette's preparations, complete with sitting area, bathroom, closets, two beds and windows with views for days. This was seriously the ideal place for a bridal preparation room, and was comfortable, relaxing, and easily accommodated the business of pre-wedding activities for the ladies. Everything came together so well there, and Bernadette was just absolutely stunning. Seriously picture perfect. We soon found ourselves down in the intimate ceremony area on the green lawn, flanked by the large, gorgeous pines, dazzling lake and mountains as the backdrop. Oh, and of course a beautiful arbor with lush greens sure to make any Pinterest planner swoon. I mean, are you kidding me? So gorgeous. Soon after the guests all sprinkled themselves comfortably in the lovely furniture placed around the wrap-around porch, drinks from the in-house bar in hand, chatting and gazing at the spectacular view. All then gathered into the inn's lovely dining/reception room, anxiously awaiting the arrival of the newlywed couple. One wall of the reception room was completely lined with windows, giving it a very open feel, and bringing the spectacular view into the room. It was such a sweet time as Justin and Bernadette took to the dance floor with each other, and then with their parents as their family looked on. It is always such a bittersweet moment for families, I think. Afterwards came the delicious food prepared in-house, and it was so awesome to see everyone break bread together at the long, beautiful table.
And as beautiful as everything was, from Bernadette and her crew, to the Inn, and the surrounding scenery, it paled in comparison to the beauty of the people this day was about. Though I haven't known them for long time, what I do know is that Bernadette and Justin are kind, hard working, loving, compassionate, giving and gracious people who would do anything and everything for the ones they love. And as this most beautiful day took on its personality and character, those qualities shined through above and beyond all else. It was my honor to capture it for them and the ones they love so dearly. So, without further ado, you can see for yourself what it was like at Bernadette and Justin's lovely Lovell, Maine wedding by way of their short film below. Enjoy!
