The wind was sweeping, and the rain was pouring, but it just added to the romance and adventure of this incredible moment in their lives, and I was so happy to be a part of it. I had the pleasure of photographing Danny’s proposal to Ellie today, and it was so amazing! It was a blast helping Danny to plan this moment - lots of emailing back and forth with location ideas, sample images and satellite imagery for different locations. And then this morning, being able to see he and Ellie and guide him to the location via text - I felt like a CIA operative with me at the base and he in the field as I guided him along to the spot.

Light was everywhere - a photographer’s dream! Before we knew it, First Look took place on the lower patio of the hotel, directly overlooking the ocean and the lighthouse. I mean, the views and surroundings really are a huge draw to this venue. Guests even arrived early to take photos of the lighthouse and scenery, and the plus side is there were appetizers and no tourists to battle! Just about every corner of the place is scenic, and Jackie and Mark capitalized on that fact big time.

Sarah & Adam chose a color palette and theme based on different wines, and that idea did not disappoint! The burgundy, blushes and champagne colors all came together beautifully for a well-coordinated look. Everything from the gowns to the florals and wine-bottle table numbers were on point and flawless. We had cheery sunshine for the First Look, as well as all of the formal photos that took place prior to the ceremony, and then a little bit of cloud cover as a pleasant shade for the ceremony.

This wonderful couple had their celebration at the fabulous Granite Ridge Estate & Barn in Norway, Maine, and it was top-to-bottom breathtaking. The weather held up for us all, not to hot, not too cool, just right, and there was even some cloud cover to provide relief from the sun. The decor was elegant, soft and romantic, just like Natalie’s gown, and the ceremony was among the most unique, heartfelt and joyful that I have ever seen.

I love helping future fiancés-to-be plan their surprise proposals in Kennebunkport, Maine. And I love being a part of the surprise itself when I photograph them. Whenever I photograph them, I usually am able to blend into the scenery so as not to spoil the surprise, but I’ve never had to put on my stealth mode so far like this one! This time, I got to be extra sneaky and play the role of sailing crew on a sailboat! I got the t-shirt and everything. Ryan and I put together a plan that I would pretend to be part of the crew on the Pineapple Ketch, a lovely charter sail boat that docks at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Neil and texted back and forth all day to coordinate his proposal to Tayla. We had a slick plan for me to pick up the ring which he left with the front desk staff, and give it to him at the location so as not to tip her off with a big ring box in his pocket.

Oh my heart! I was just with the cutest couple today! Jay & Richa were just engaged at Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine today! We really lucked out with the weather for their special moment, and it just started to sprinkle right after she said YES. We quickly found some shelter from the drizzle from a nearby, blossoming apple tree (*swoon*), and a few more spots with the famous lighthouse in the background before it started really coming down.

The weather was perfection as the wedding began at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in downtown Portland, followed by the reception at the lovely Westin hotel, also downtown. I couldn’t have asked for things to go more smoothly, and these two rocked it out (though, that wasn’t a surprise at all!)!

It was truly an honor to be there when these two got engaged, and to be there on their wedding day! Toni looked like a princess in her stunning and flowing gown, romantic hair, and even down to her amazing nails! The entire day felt like I had stepped into a fairy tale.

 Lucky for us Ft. Williams Park has more than one or two backdrops to choose from, and the early spring landscaping made for beautiful and detailed scenes that just aren’t available any other time of the year.  Taking a long walk around the park’s walking paths, climbing hills and scaling cliffs didn’t deter them as they excitedly explored cliffside goat trails and hidden paths of the park with me. These two adventurers were total champs during their shoot, and so easy to work with! I can’t wait for their wedding in the Fall!  

The weather may have been a little chilly, but that did not dampen any spirits and everything went smooth as butter. We started off the day with their first look on the docks of the marina next to the venue, and my was it just breathtaking! The skyline of Portland across the bay plus the boats in the marina lent to that most amazing nautical “Maine” feeling you really can’t get anywhere else.

This was such a fun and unique ceremony, and I just loved the vibe these two had with their flannel shirts and hiking shoes, and even more so their sense of adventure! The night before, they had been camping up in Acadia National Park, folioing a long road/camping trip to Maine. Even though they are from out of state, I feel like they encapsulated the Maine spirit 100% with their true appreciation of the outdoors and the natural beauty of our surroundings, and their spirit of adventure.
