It started off a bit drizzly and overcast, but that turned around and we had the most wonderful, soft light one could hope for on a wedding day. This couple. This venue. This light. Everything was simply amazing.

Then when golden hour came about, the most magical, warm and truly golden light flooded the deck of the vessel, and I knew we had to take advantage of it. I grabbed Chelsea + Derek for an impromptu session on the deck, and OH my goodness....it was just heavenly.
I had a wonderful time capturing photos for Megan and Patrick at their intimate wedding at a private residence in Gray, Maine today. The weather was absolutely wonderful, and spirits were high.
I first remember talking to Nick and Sarah during our first call together, and also when we met at the Cookie Jar in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, after they had already hired me. We had an awesome time chatting together and getting to know each other a little bit, and I felt like we had already been friends for years.
This was such a beautiful shoot - the weather was perfect, the lighting was perfect, and there was even champagne delivered to the newly engaged couple by the amazing staff at the Cliff House Maine resort in Ogunquit, Maine! I had an absolute blast with Joe and Toni for their surprise proposal photo session...
Our adventure started in Biddeford Pool, and ended on Casco Bay, with the ceremony and super fun celebration party on board the ship!
Ben had a few ideas for a location picked out for this special moment to happen, and he finally settled on the perfect spot - the little beach where his grandfather had taken him as a boy to skip rocks while on vacation in Maine. He had made plans with Mary B. to have dinner later in the evening at a lovely restaurant there in Kennebunk, while on their vacation here from back west
Wow, what an incredible evening last night! Ben and Mary got engaged last night on a little rocky beach very close to Ben's heart. It was so wonderful meeting these two, and capturing this amazing moment for them!
I texted Chris to let him know I was in position, but that there were quite a few people milling around the very spot where things were to be taking place. So I kicked into crowd control mode and started (politely) informing the visitors of what was going to take place, and so they cleared out. Then came another group.
I've never been on a sailboat before, let alone shot photos on one, so this was an amazing first for me, and definitely something I am looking forward to doing again! Enjoy this sneak peek of our nautical adventures tonight on Casco Bay!
This wonderful photoshoot at The Barn at The Kennebunks has been almost a year in the making. It has truly been a labor of love for me from conception to end. So many wonderfully talented Maine vendors came on board for this project, and just knocked it out of the park - I am so incredibly grateful for each and every one of them.
Yesterday's weather was absolutely perfect - just the right amount of sun and heat. Just the right amount of humidity, and just the right amount of clouds....until about 2 hours before Chris & Khrystyna's surprise proposal when it started to downpour!
It's not often we have a double sneak peek here! But, with all of the commotion of school letting out for the summer, things were understandably busy for Sarah after she and Bill got engaged! So, Bill's mom, Barb, arranged to have a family photoshoot, as well as some additional photos for Bill and Sarah. And the results are just amazing.
This was such a sweet and emotional proposal! It took place earlier today in Sara's classroom, where she works (she's a teacher), and there were no shortage of tears!
This shoot was a big reminder of how awesome the city of Portland, Maine is - as Nancy and I were shooting, countless strangers stopped as they were passing by to congratulate Nancy on her accomplishment, in the warmest and friendliest Mainer way. The spring weather was so pleasantly mild, just how you would imagine the perfect day to be.
You know when someone is deeply in love when he contacts you for proposal photography and plans a full day with driving 4 hours one way just for the big moment. It's something I don't take lightly on my end, and it's an honor to even be considered in capturing it. Jordan contacted me with the wonderful story of how he and Chelsie were neighbors when they were little, then she moved away for several years. They reconnected when she moved back in Jr. High, and they have been inseparable ever since.
Oh my goodness I had such a blast with these two today. So many adventures. I won't give too much away, but it definitely involved rock climbing in flats, wind, and a misbehaving ocean. I am so excited about this sneak peek from Jordan & Chelsie's proposal today.
This was such a fun shoot, not only because the arrangements made the entire studio smell AMAZING, but there was also some behind the scenes silliness at hand. To mix things up, we browsed through storage and dragged out an ENORMOUS, old, weathered door that used to hang somewhere in the old building and used it as a backdrop. That's the thing with old Portland buildings - there is no lack of anything of vintage character. SO awesome.
I love doing surprise proposal photoshoots near Portland, Maine. And I love planning for them. I love getting the call from the groom-to-be and hatching a plan together that will totally catch the love of his life off guard and send her over the moon! And this one is seriously not lacking in brownie points.
Visions of trips to the beach, camping, exploring and enjoying the city all come to mind and have me excited for it. So to celebrate my warmer-weather feelings, I'm giving away some downloadable images which represent the warmth I am anticipating!
