Oh my goodness, Jamie and Brian's wedding - this was such a fun day! And it started out (and finished) REALLY well. Before the day came I was very concerned about the parking situation in downtown Portland Maine on the weekend of July 4th. As most of you know, during any given weekend alone in Portland in the summer, it's nearly impossible to find good parking. And that's risky for weddings. And it's even worse when there are multiple locations for a wedding. So I met up with my assistant away from the city, and we left early to make sure we could get to where we needed to be on time for our timeline. My throat and mouth were dry as we pulled into downtown, and my heart started racing. With palms sweaty, I gazed around, somewhat hopeful, yet somewhat dreading what was to come with the parking situation. And then, as we approached our first location, it was as if a divine appointment took place - a beam of golden sunshine seemed to appear out of nowhere in the bright blue sky, and pointed to the PERFECT parking spot. I could not believe my eyes! So after my usual 3-4 attempts at parallel parking (I am the WORST parallel parker in the history of ever...), we successfully were parked NEAR the location itself! So, with the wonderful happenstance, we were able to start our load-in process, and even made it up to the preparations suite a little bit early. It set an amazing tone for the day.
And what a day it was! I was excited to be back at the beautiful Portland Regency Hotel & Spa downtown for bridal preparations. Then it was off to the ceremony site at the Eastern Promenade, The weather couldn't have been more perfect - blue skies with puffy, white clouds giving us all an occasional break from the warm sun. The sail boats were out that day, and the view from the Promenade was absolutely spectacular. And the bubbles during the recession made for the cutest exit. After, we went on to 58 Fore | The Portland Company to set up and grab some details of the most beautiful industrial-chic and Maine-inspired decor. Just magical. To make this event even better, Jamie and Brian and their crew all arrived at the venue via the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. So. Much. Fun! We then had a few minutes to get some scenic footage on the water right there by the tracks, which was a fun little jaunt, and then the two were spontaneously whisked away for their entrance by a random guy in a golf cart. What a fun story and adventure!
The reception itself was just gorgeous, complete with fabulous chandeliers and cafe lighting to lend to the stunning industrial-chic decor. The center pieces incorporated pieces of Maine with a mix of rustic wooden center piece boxes, birch and pine cones. It wouldn't have been complete without the Live Maine wedding favors for their guests, who also enjoyed the quintessential Maine beers Shipyard and Allagash on tap. The live band, the amazing food, the decor - it all came together in a wonderful party their friends and family are sure to never forget! I know I've never attended a wedding like it before, and I will always remember this special day! So without further ado, I present to you Jamie & Brian's Portland Maine wedding!
